Set in the heart of the Mediterranean, the idyllic island of Malta has been described as one big open–air museum, with so much of its past being visible today including ancient temples and palaces, the world's oldest surviving free standing stone structures and red telephone boxes! Enchanting scenery and honey–coloured architecture provide a spectacular backdrop to complement the clear blue skies, golden beaches, pretty harbours and promenades. A melting pot of North African, Arabic, Sicilian, Greek and British influences has created an archipelago bursting with a rich, diverse heritage, great cuisine and endearing charm.

Our delightful 8–day holiday includes 4 star half board accommodation in St Paul's Bay and three full–day excursions – to the capital, Valletta, to Gozo, Malta's sister island, and a harbour cruise combined with a Three Cities walkabout!

Thursday Gather at your chosen departure airport for your flight to Malta. On arrival, you will be met by our English–speaking representative and transferred to your hotel.

Friday After breakfast, there will be a welcome meeting in the hotel in the morning, then the rest of the day will be at leisure to relax and enjoy the hotel's many facilities or explore your resort.

Saturday Today's visit is to the fascinating island of Gozo, the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago. After breakfast, we will travel to Ċirkewwa for the ferry crossing to Gozo, much smaller and quieter than her big sister, and featuring some delightful landscapes, terraces and small villages perched precariously on valley sides. We visit the Ta' Pinu Basilica, one of the most outstanding churches in the Maltese Islands, the Ġgantija Temples dating back to 5000BC, and the coastal villages of Marsalforn and Dwerja. Lunch is included on this excursion.

Sunday After breakfast, we will depart on our full day excursion of the historical area known as The Three Cities, a collective description of the three fortified cities of Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa which are enclosed by the massive line of fortification created by the Knights of St John. These cities of narrow streets shaded by many historical buildings are best appreciated on foot. In Senglea, head to the tip of the peninsula and enjoy the gardens and views of the harbour from the famous Gardjola, a decorated watch tower or vedette, that has become a favourite Maltese icon. Lunch and a cruise of the Grand Harbour are also included on this excursion with a difference.

Monday Day at leisure

Tuesday Full day excursion to Valletta, Malta's capital city, named after Jean de la Valette (Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller), and considered to be the first city in Europe of its design and style. Our excursion includes a visit to St John's Cathedral, a masterpiece of Baroque style built by the Knights of St John, surrounded with chapels of different languages of the Order. After an included lunch, we will visit The Malta Experience, an audio–visual exhibition that depicts Malta's history through the ages.

Wednesday Your last full day is at leisure to enjoy the hotel's surroundings or to shop for some last minute souvenirs and presents to take home.

Thursday Sadly it is time to say farewell to beautiful Malta and return to the airport for your flight home.
